Delaware Lackawanna no. 3007 sits idle at Steamtown.
A mixed-freight and intermodal Norfolk Southern train heads southbound under Clarks Summit's Freedom Bridge. It was -20F with windchill when this photo was taken, and my hand was in severe physical pain after 30 seconds of being exposed.
A birds-eye view of the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern's 2102 steam locomotive passing over the Jim Thorpe Wye.
Canadian Pacific 2317 sits just at the start of the junction at Steamtown NHS. This locomotive was built in 1923 in Montreal and saw a rich life of mainline passenger service. Its revenue service ended in 1959, and after some time it ended up pulling passenger excursions. The last time it ran was in 2010. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Pacific_2317
The Kinzua Bridge was the tallest railroad bridge in the world when it was finished in 1882. One night, the support structure was left unbolted from the foundation during a period of extended maintenance. A tornado rolled through that night, collapsing the middle portion of the bridge. Today the Kinzua Bridge is a State Park.
